Born in Syracuse, Italy, Carmelina had resided in Hawthorne since 1972. A former seamstress at Bridals by Roma in Clifton, Carmelina was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Hawthorne.
Carmelina Cartella was the beloved wife of the late Antonino Cartella (2013). Loving mother of Vincenza Conforti and her husband Angelo of North Haledon, Josephine Armero and her husband William of Parsippany, and Rita Angela Cappella and her husband Domenic of Pittsburgh, PA. Dear grandmother of Damiano Conforti and his wife Lisa, Anthony Conforti and his wife Laura, Frank Armero and his wife Dana, Allison Armero, and Anna Cappella. Great grandmother of Elizabeth, Angelica, Genevieve, Gino, Alivia, and Noelle. Sister of Salvatore Lombardo, Adele Amenta, and Maria Barbagallo all of Italy.
Funeral will be departing at 9:15am on Monday, February 11, 2019 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne, for a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Hawthorne. Entombment will follow at the Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
