Obituary

Fish, Fletcher T. – age 77 years of Hawthorne on Monday October 29th, 2012. Beloved husband of Mary "Mae" Fish (nee: Campbell), loving father of Beth Betsch of Glen Rock and Mary Lou Rainey and her husband Tim of Hawthorne, dear grandfather of Justin Betsch and Jack Rainey, brother of Niel Fish of Fair Lawn.

Born in Goshen, NY, Fletcher lived in Florida and Warwick, NY until the age of five when he moved to Hillsdale in 1941. He graduate Westwood High School in 1953 and then attended the Long Island School of Aeronautics. Subsequently, Mr. Fish moved to Hawthorne in 1960 where he still resided. Fletcher was a general insurance agent for Fish Insurance & FMF Inc. in Wayne for 27 years until his retirement in 1997. He served his country in the US Army as a First Sergeant. Mr. Fish was a member of the Glen Rock Community Church where he served on the Consistory and the Endowment Committee. He was the president of the Paterson YMCA Board of Directors and its Board of Trustees. Mr. Fish was president of the Hamilton Club, Paterson, President of the William Paterson College Board of Trustees when it became the William Paterson University. Fletcher was also the president of the Paterson and Wayne Chamber of Commerce and a member of the North Haledon Rotary. Furthermore, Mr. Fish was the Chairman of the Board of the Glen Rock Savings Bank, and a member of the Glen Rock Activities Club. He was an avid painter and won first place for his art displayed the past two years at the Hawthorne Library Art Association. Additionally, 24 of his paintings were displayed this past August at the Glen Rock Library.

Funeral service 8 PM on Sunday at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The family and friends will gather at 10:00am on Monday morning, November 5, 2012 at the funeral home for a 10:30am departure to the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus where there will be a graveside service.
