Stammer, Henry "Skip", age 76, of North Haledon, on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Born in Jersey City and raised in Fair Lawn, Skip had lived in North Haledon for 46 years. He was a man of many interests and talents. Skip served three years active duty in the U.S. Navy, spending his time on the USS Kenneth Whiting in the South Pacific. After his service, he worked as a hardware salesman and was a former owner/operator of Hawthorne Hardware. More recently, he worked as a supervisor at Taylor Rental in Franklin Lakes and as a sales associate for Bed, Bath & Beyond in Paramus. Skip enjoyed fishing, football, and ballroom dancing. He was an avid fan and supporter of fencing. Skip was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed his model railroad.
For 54 years, Skip was the beloved husband of Lois (nee: Levy) Stammer. Loving father of Russell Stammer and his wife Eleanor of Oakland and Steven Stammer and his wife Angela of Ogden, IL. Dear grandfather of Katherine and Jonathan Stammer of Oakland.
Funeral will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Ramapo Valley Baptist Church, 150 Franklin Ave., Oakland. Friends may visit at the church on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and before the funeral from 10:00 – 10:30 AM on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lakeview College of Nursing, 903 N. Logan Ave, Danville, IL 61832 or to the Ramapo Valley Baptist Church.
