Marjorie J. Korteweg, 80, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 14, 2019. She was born at Paterson General Hospital in November, 1938, and grew up with her family in Paterson where she graduated from Eastside High School. Marge graduated from Paterson State Teachers College (now The William Paterson University of New Jersey), and received her MA degree from Columbia University. Following a career in teaching, she joined Coldwell Banker in Wyckoff as a real estate broker where she
continued to be active.

Marge was a passionate sailor, logging trips from the Hudson River to and from Florida on the Inter-coastal Waterway, and the Erie Canal to the Great Lakes. For many years she was active with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, where she was Past Commander of Division 10, Flotilla 10-13. As a Wyckoff resident of 41 years and former educator she was always active in the community, the Chamber of Commerce and scouting.

Marge was predeceased by her parents, Alice (Blasberg) Sutton and George Sutton, her husband, Jack Korteweg, and their daughter, Wendy Korteweg. She is survived by her brother John (Jack) Sutton of Belgrade, Maine; Niece, Nancy Vailas and her husband, Alex, of New Castle, New Hampshire; Nephew, Richard Sutton and his wife Robin Lippert of Cambridge, Massachusetts; and cousins Patty Bombolevicz and Linda Gorun of Hawthorne, New Jersey; Walter Blasberg of North Hero, Vermont; and Penny Shada of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as great nieces and nephews. In addition, Marge is survived by her brothers-in-law, Wayne Korteweg and Bert Korteweg.

Funeral arrangements are by Browning and Forshay of Hawthorne. As Marge wished, there will be no services and her ashes will be spread at sea. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to your charity of choice.
