Duffy, Adele M., (nee Johnston) age 88, of Hawthorne, on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Born and raised in Bronx, NY, Adele moved to Paterson in 1950, and later to Hawthorne where she has lived for over 47 years. She started her career with Paramount Pictures in New York City as a typist in the film script department. She retired from RCA as a Service Contract Service Person. Adele was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor. She loved rooting for her favorite teams, the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Most of all, she loved traveling, especially to her favorite destination, Aruba. One of her favorite local trips, was to Atlantic City. She met her husband William (Bill) at a wedding, and they were married for well over 50 years.
Adele M. Duffy was the beloved wife of the late William F. Duffy (2006). Loving mother of the late William F. Duffy, Jr., Patricia Hannon and her husband Kevin of Landing, and Timothy Duffy of Hawthorne. Adoring grandmother of Christopher Duffy and his wife Jaclyn, Shannon (Duffy) Zaremba and her husband Jonathan, and Courtney Duffy. Great grandmother of Conor, Gavin and Kayla. Sister of the late Edwin Johnston and the late John Johnston.
Funeral will depart at 9am on Monday, November 20, 2017 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne for a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Anthony R.C. Church, Hawthorne. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-7pm.
