Carhart, Reverend William A., age 97, of Glen Rock, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born and raised in Newark William had lived in Glen Rock for the past 58 years. He graduated from Bloomfield College and Seminary and served as a minister for the First Presbyterian Church of Woodridge and then Broadway Presbyterian Church in Paterson. Rev. Carhart was the head of Indian and Migrant Affairs for the National Council of Churches. He attended services at the Community Church of Glen Rock and was a member of the Glen Rock Activities Club and was a hobbyist member. William served as the manager of Tamcrest Country Club and had been the Vice President and Treasurer of Bloomfield College and Seminary. He was a Freemason and member of the Euclid Lodge #136 in Hasbrouck Heights. He also served as Secretary for the Presbytery of the Palisades.

William was the beloved husband of Trudy (nee: Adlassnigg) Carhart. Loving father of William E. Carhart and his wife Claire of Hawthorne and Joan Davis and her late husband Michael of North Haledon. Dear grandfather of William E. Carhart, Jr., Victoria Ashley Carhart, Blair Emilie Davis and Lindsy Joy Davis. A private graveside service will be held at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

A memorial service honoring William’s life will be held at the Community Church of Glen Rock, to be announced at a later date.
