Laurencot, Jr., Henry J., age 88, of Hawthorne, NJ, on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Henry had spent most of his life sharing time between his home in Hawthorne and his home in Shoreham, Long Island. Henry graduated from Brooklyn Prep High School and St. Peter’s College in Jersey City before receiving his PhD in Biochemistry from Fordham University. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Henry retired from Hoffman LaRoche Pharmaceutical as a Senior Scientist after 38 years. He was an active parishioner of St. Anthony R.C. Church in Hawthorne where he was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He had served as President of the Home and School Association and as Co-Chairman of the Restoration Committee and served on the Parish Council. In Shoreham, Henry had served as President and Treasurer of the Shoreham Country Club and the Commodore of The Shoreham Boat Club. He was a member of Ireland’s Royal Ulster Yacht Club and was an avid fan of America’s Cup sailing. Henry loved fishing, sailing, boating and was also a private pilot; but his proudest accomplishment was his loving family.

Henry was the beloved husband of Barbara (nee: Owen) Laurencot. Loving father of Janine Roy and her husband Robert of Allentown, NJ, Carrie Laurencot and her husband Robert Shoemaker of Boyds, MD, Nancy Laurencot of Bloomfield, NJ and Paul Laurencot and his wife Robyn Malovany of North Haledon, NJ. Dear grandfather of Connor, Harrison, and Colin Roy of Allentown. Dearest brother of Claire Azzara of Huntington, NY, Lorraine Schneider of Wantagh, NY, the late Rene Laurencot, Sr. (2017) and the late Marie Jeanne Laurencot (2012). Beloved brother-in-law of William and Lydia Owen, Nancy and Donald Bouten and Michael and Anne Owen and uncle of many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize the extraordinary support from his caretakers, Michael and Loli.

Funeral will depart at 11am on Monday, April 30, 2018 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne for a 11:30am funeral mass at St. Anthony R.C. Church, Hawthorne. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-5pm.
