David W. Woods, age 67, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River. Born in Westfield to William and Mary Woods, David lived in Allendale for over 30 years. David graduated Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains in 1969 and the University of Notre Dame in 1973. Following college, he began a 20-year career in insurance at Frank B. Hall & Co. and Alexander & Alexander where he held various roles in marketing, including Director of Corporate Communications, before moving into the legal industry as a senior marketing executive where he worked at such firms as Lucas & Mercanti, Shearman & Sterling, White & Case, Pitney Harden, and Kelley Drye & Warren. David was also a talented guitarist and songwriter of many songs, including for the contemporary Christian musical “One Solitary Life”, an active member of Hawthorne Gospel Church and a volunteer at Villa Marie Claire. Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Jennifer (“Fifer”), his devoted children, Kelsey and Brennan and his wife Colleen, and his sister, Diana Collins and her husband Brian. David also leaves his beloved grandson, Hudson. He is also survived by his dear nephews and niece.
