Phillips, Antonia Christina (nee Peters), age 72 of Hawthorne, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
Born in Paterson, Antonia had resided in Hawthorne since 1972. Antonia had a long career as a teacher, beginning in Eastern Christian, then the Hawthorne School System, Passaic County Tech, and finished at Pascack Valley High School. She was a devoted member of the Covenant Christian Reformed Church in North Haledon.
Antonia C. Phillips was the beloved wife of the late George Phillips (2013). Loving mother of Christine Hayes and her husband Ben of North Haledon, Suzanne Scheidegger and her husband Dan of Hawthorne, Rebecca Colussi and her husband Robert also of Hawthorne, and the late Thomas Phillips (2004). Dear grandmother of Brianna and Madeline Hayes, Thomas and Colin Scheidegger, Julia and Ava Colussi, and Kyle Phelps. Dear sister of Kathy Norton of Powell’s Point, NC, Steve Peters and his wife Bev of North Haledon, Sharon Gordon and her husband Bruce of Wanaque, and the late Ted Peters. Sister-in-law of Carol Peters. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne. Interment will follow at the Fair Lawn Cemetery, Fair Lawn. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
