Vaccaro, Nicola (Nick), 77, of Hawthorne, NJ entered Eternal Rest peacefully on Wednesday October 31, 2018, with his wife Linda and daughter Brenda at his side. Born in Nocera Terinese, Italy on May 26, 1941, Nick came to the U.S. as a teenager and proudly became a U.S. citizen.
Always hard-working, agile and fun-loving, Nick enjoyed soccer and football - especially the Giants and bowled many perfect games. He was an avid gardener and always looked forward to the spring when he began planting his vegetable garden. After 43 years of dedicated service at United Water/Suez, Nick retired in 2007. Even in his retirement, Nick always remained active serving as the caretaker at Holy Face Monastery in Clifton, NJ where he also volunteered in many capacities. By far, his greatest joys in his retirement were becoming and being a grandpa to his dear granddaughter Evangeline. Nick will always be remembered as a caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather and loyal friend.
His family will be receiving relatives and friends on Sunday, November 4, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave. in Hawthorne. On Monday, November 5, a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 276 Diamond Bridge Ave., Hawthorne. Following the Mass, Nick’s body will be laid to rest at Madonna Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fort Lee, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to both St. Anthony’s Church and to Holy Face Monastery in Clifton, NJ. (www.browningforshay.com)
