D’Acierno, Victoria (nee: Jorwa), age 90, of Rochelle Park, on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
Born and raised in Paterson, Vickie lived in Fair Lawn for many years before moving to Rochelle Park. She was a strong believer in education, beginning her career working for the Paterson public schools and finally retiring from the guidance department of the Fair Lawn school system. She also worked for many years at Brewster Finishing and Dyeing, one of the last surviving firms from Paterson’s heyday as a center of textile production. Vickie was extraordinarily proud of the many fine university and graduate degrees earned by her children and grandchildren and she remained a voracious reader and learner throughout her life. She was an accomplished chef, whose kitchen magic regularly elevated humble meals to restorative feasts, and fed many generations of grateful family members and friends at her table, where there was always room for one more.
She was the beloved wife of Leo D’Acierno, who survives her, and leaves their two loving sons and four beautiful grandchildren, who brought endless light and smiles to her life. She was the loving sister of Millie Jorwa and Julia Genardo and the late Albert Jorwa and the late David Jorwa. Vickie also cherished spending time with her five devoted grand dogs, who could always rely on her for a spot on the couch and a treat under the table.
A memorial service for Vickie will be held on November 21 at 11:00am at Saint Saviour’s Church in Old Greenwich, CT.
Donations in her memory may be sent to UNICEF or any other worthwhile charity that serves children in need.
