Schaper, Raymond, age 92, of Wyckoff, on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Born in Hawthorne, Raymond lived most of his life in Midland Park before moving to Wyckoff in 2012. He worked as a self employed painter for many years and was co-owner of R&S Painting Contractors before finishing his career with Dykman and Dykstra Painting in Wyckoff and was a member and often served as Elder of Union Reformed Church in Franklin Lakes and Abundant Life Reformed Church in Wyckoff for all of his adult life. An avid painter, Raymond was also quite the musician and loved to sing, play guitar, and the harmonica. He was a former Assistant Scout Master for BSA Troop 260 and Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent.
Beloved husband of the late Marion (nee: Warnet) Schaper (2014). Devoted father to Arlene Schaper of Cumming, GA, Peter Schaper and his wife Ellen of Pompton Lakes, and Timothy Schaper and his wife Lisa of Dumont. Cherished grandfather to Emily and Peter C. Schaper, and step grandfather to Rebecca and Matthew Stetz. He also will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 at the Abundant Life Reformed Church, Wyckoff. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to Abundant Life Reformed Church, Autism Speaks, or the Alzheimer's Association.
