Anna Mae Recchione (nee Del Gaudio), passed away at 94, on June 28.
Anna Mae was born in Paterson, and raised in Paterson and Hawthorne. She graduated from Eastside High School. She lived in Hawthorne the past 55 years.
Anna Mae was a legal secretary early in her career, taking time off to raise four children, then returning to work in the 1970’s as an administrative assistant at Wayne General Hospital. She was a woman of many interests and talents. She was a seamstress who could make anything, dresses, formal gowns, slacks, suits, and did many alterations for family and friends. She enjoyed painting, taking art classes in her middle years. Her artwork adorned our family homes. She was a good cook, and avid baker. She was on a bowling team and scored in the 130’s. Anna Mae was involved in many civic and volunteer organizations, including Girl Scouts, Columbus Circle, Riverside Vets, Golden Harvesters, Blessed Sacrament and St. Anthony’s Church CYO.
Anna Mae was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Louis F (2016), and son Louis (“Rick” 2009). She is survived by her children Betty Cebrik of Oakland (Melvin, deceased), Len and Nancy Recchione of Ramsey, and Donna and Bill Beckman of Bloomingdale. Her grandchildren are Kimberly Cebrik of NYC, Kristta and Russell Bennett of Oakland, Joseph Recchione of Mahwah, Andrew Recchione of NYC, Lauren and Ryan Lessard of Chelmsford, MA and Erin Recchione of NYC.
Visitation is Monday, July 8, from 5-8 PM at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave, Hawthorne. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 10 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 25 Purdue Ave, Oakland, NJ. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, 980 Huron Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
