Loretta Turula Fox, 85, of Hawthorne NJ died peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 having suffered from Alheimer’s for many years. Loretta was born in the Bronx, NY on November 9, 1933, the daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (Targonsky) Turula. She grew up in the Bronx and in her early 20s worked as a secretary at McGraw Hill Publishing Company where she fell in love with Edward J. Fox. In 1956, Loretta and Ed wed and moved to Hawthorne NJ where they raised their loving family and became faithful parishioners of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. Loretta’s family and friends were dear to her, and she often hosted Sunday dinners, celebrations, and holidays. Almost as much as her family, she adored the wildlife in her backyard and her many pets, especially her birds. Loretta enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, traveling, and her view of New York City from her kitchen window.
Loretta was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Fox (2005), and her infant son John Fox. She is survived by her children Karen Fox-Martino and her husband Steven of Oakland, NJ; Leslie Fox-Hauben and her husband David of Belle Mead, NJ; and Matthew Fox and his wife Kathleen of Chelmsford, MA; and her grandchildren Jenna and Jacob Hauben, and Jack, Katelyn and Molly Fox. Loretta also leaves her two brothers Stephen and his wife Cecelia Turula of Ocean City, MD; Vincent and his wife Sandra Turula of Pequannock, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at St. Paul's R.C Church, Prospect Park. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family prior from 8:30-9:30AM at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne, NJ 07506. In leiu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzhiemer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
