Dan Fisher, 47, of Fair Lawn, NJ, loving husband, father and friend, died at his home on January 3.
Dan grew up in Montrose, NY, and graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in 1990. He studied video and film at Rochester Institute of Technology. He found his true calling in the field of video editing and was a creative force in the television and entertainment industry through his work with Kittens Creative, Mindsmack, and his own firm, Merman Media. Examples of his award-winning work can be seen on SyFy / USA, AMC Networks, the Cartoon Network, and many other places. Some who saw him work thought of him as Jimi Hendrix with a video editing keyboard. Dan has a big network of colleagues who not only loved working with him but also had great times just hanging out with him.
Dan’s wife Raquel and their three sons were the loves of Dan’s life and the center of his happiest moments. They had wonderful trips and other adventures fueled by Dan’s passions for great food and drink, good company, and lively music. Dan took great pride in helping Raquel prepare mondungo and other amazing Dominican dishes and sharing them with friends and family. Dan also found great joy in watching Jason’s soccer games, and chasing Hudson and their dog Ice Cream around the house. He had a true gift for living in the moment with people he loved.
Dan had a huge heart, a beautiful smile, and a love of life that he shared with everyone. Nobody was happier to see you arrive, hugged you harder when you left, or filled their texts with more exclamation points than Dan.
He is survived by his parents, Polly and Dick Fisher of Sebastian, FL, his wife Raquel, his sons Jonathan, Jason, and Hudson, and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
