Dear grandfather of Melissa Regenthal and her husband Brian of Scotch Plains, Jennifer Ferriday and her husband Gabe Nemiroff of Sandia Park, NM, Nicole Livingston and her husband Matt of Wall Twp., NJ, Tim Ferriday of Albuquerque, NM and Stephanie Schwarz of Riverdale, NJ. Dearest great-grandfather of Madison, Zev, Adelyn and Avery. He is survived by his sisters Lois Williams, Lillie Tanis and her husband Martin, his sister-in-law Barbara Schwarz and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Arthur Schwarz.
A few things we will remember: Dad/Pop may not have been financially wealthy but always referred to himself as being a “rich man”, blessed by the family he grew up in and the one he built with his loving wife Ida. He didn’t have a college education, but he excelled at a college-educated person’s job because of his attention to detail and his strong work ethic. He made friends wherever he went, charming those he met, from his nurses and doctors to his children’s and grandchildren’s friends, and he still was getting phone calls at age 90 from work colleagues from decades ago. He loved telling corny jokes and singing a silly French song that we still can’t figure out the words to. He was loyal beyond a fault, whether to his family, his childhood best friend, his fellow workers, or especially to his beloved Boston Red Sox (in a family of devout Yankee fans). He loved the outdoors, with his favorite pastimes being hunting, fishing, bird watching, and even yard work, And he loved being silly with his great grandchildren - even at age 90. A piece of each of our hearts went along with Pop, but we know he already is on his next amazing path.
